At their core, the Clean Machine pickups are a variation on Cory's beloved Antiquity II Surfer Strat single-coils. They retain the vintage Strat clarity, warmth, and twang Wong relies on for his brand of funk and soul. But by using Alnico IV magnets in the neck and middle position, and a stack with Alnico V magnets in the bridge, as well as over winding the bobbins, Wong’s pickups also love thick overdrive and easily dish out singing single-note solos.
